Women at Work in the Church

The sewing dates for October are Thursday, October 1st and October 15th  from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.  Come and have fun!  Bring a project or do some of the projects we have ongoing at the church........we are always working on cutting, planning, and sewing original baby quilts, putting together baby bags, and making lap robes for nursing home residents.  We are just finishing 50 warm and fleecy blankets to be  given as Christmas gifts in December 2015  to our Friendship Ministry "friends". There is always a variety of projects to work on as well.

There are lots of ways to help ....and if you want to just come for fun and fellowship with no work involved ....that is great too!! Please come and join the fun...and join in for lunch afterwards as well. Thanks for being part of our efforts to help others!!

"Talents into Treasures Art, Craft, and Bake Sale"....     DON'T MISS THIS !!!

Currently, everyone is working very hard to get ready for our Saturday, Oct 17th "Talents into Treasures Art, Craft, and Bake Sale from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be a fantastic array of beautiful, hand made items available at the sale, as well as tables and tables of "Oh, My, This is SO Delicious" home made baked goods.

In addition to the art, crafts, and baked goods that will be available, talented crafters from our congregation will be doing  live, hands on demonstrations of spinning wool into yarn, pottery making, and wood carving and decorative wood burning and painting.

Children and adults alike will enjoy being able to make their own pottery under the capable guidance of Donna Henn, our resident potter!!! while Bonnie Pilditch will demonstrate how to spin wool into yarn and create the beautiful knitted items for which she is famous! Don and Ann Wenger, national and local wood carving instructors, will be sharing their talents of hand carving wood into a variety of beautiful pieces of art as well as decorative wood painting and wood burning.

You will NOT want to miss this .....GREAT and FUN demonstrations .....beautiful art and craft items to purchase, delicious baked goods to take home and enjoy, plus FREE APPLE CIDER for all!!!  See you Saturday the 17th from 10:00 to 3:00. Bring your friends!!!

                                                            Second  Saturday Fellowship

Come and enjoy  "Second Saturday Fellowship"  from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. each second Saturday of the month as we come together for fun, conversation, light refreshments, and enjoyment in being together in a relaxed setting.  For the month of October, there will not be a meeting because work will be going on in preparation for the upcoming Talents into Treasures Art, Craft, and Bake sale.  Most other fellowship meetings will likely have folks doing a variety of things .......knitting, crocheting, smocking, scrap booking, wood carving,  and some who like to come just to see what is going on and enjoy the talk and camaraderie!  Please come.......bring a portable project of your choosing or just come for a time of fellowship.  Remember, it's not just about projects!  Why not bring a friend or neighbor who could use a bit of relaxation.  We'll be waiting for YOU!!!

In June,  Second Saturday Fellowship took a field trip to Born Again Quilts!!  Owner Lois Levihn showed us how she "autopsies" quilts in order to assess their damage and design a plan for restoring them.  Several of us took along quilts  to have autopsied and we learned a LOT of interesting information. In addition to offering rehab for old quilts, Lois's studio sells vintage and reproduction fabrics along with quilts, quilt tops, patterns, baby textiles, and sewing accessories.  Lois will include information about our visit in her bi-weekly article in the Oct. 8th edition of the Waynedale News. Look for it!!!

In This Case, "Swiping" Means Earning $$$$$
